Introducing your expert guide

Hi, I am Kati, the founder of the IST. I have studied and practiced Traditional Chinese Medicine and Martial Arts, and also spent years to understand Western Science to better understand the interconnectedness of the human experience and learning. And the journey goes on as I believe there is always more to learn.

IST was born from my ongoing personal journey to mastery. As a martial arts teacher I have had many conversations with my husband, Veka Rounevaara, about mastery, training and personal growth. We started putting ideas down for our personal use, then we wanted to pass the knowledge we gained to our students, and few years ago I started writing about “the internal art of being” that has been my pastime ever since. Finally, we are at the point that we want to share what we have learned during this quest with you.

Together with my husband, we have travelled the world teaching Martial Arts, and now moved from Finland to Hong Kong to continue the path of our SiFu Wan Kam Leung and teach Practical Wing Chun Kung Fu at its headquarters. We still travel and teach, but you are more than welcome to join our in-person classes here in Hong Kong to benefit your personal journey and build your inner strength together with us.

Welcome to the journey of self-mastery!

FAQs

  • I am already 50 years old, why should I learn this?

Unfortunately, we often believe that we are too old for new things. However, we benefit from new challenges and continuous learning through our entire lifespan. At 50, you are not old, you are at the age when you should start paying attention to everything your body tells you and you should start focusing on your wellbeing more that when you were younger. You still have a lot to gain. Feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss more.

  • I have had a surgery and I have not been able to continue my training as before. Is there anything I should do to recover faster?

As I do not know your surgical history or your current health, I can not give you as individual answer as you should get. However, you should focus on the scar treatment - make sure that it heals well, you should make sure that all the needed nutritional building blocks are at your body’s disposal, you should start moving gently and take things step-by-step as stagnation is the enemy in recovery. Believe that you will be better than ever and rest enough to provide your body the time to rebuild and recover. If you wish to get more personalized guidance, please contact us directly. Thank you. I wish you speedy and well recovery.
